Since 2006, more than 300,000 children between the ages of 4 and 11 have been taught how to wash and dry their hands correctly by Max 4 Health, via a schools hand hygiene education programme called ‘Hands up for Max’. This programme communicates the vital importance of hygienic hand washing for children to ensure that pupils learn correct practices from an early age.
Albany Max (exclusively licensed for use in the UK’s independent schools) is a loveable, larger than life character who, via the Albany Max road show, makes teaching hand washing hygiene fun for children of all ages.

Max first appeared in 2005 as an educational animation to promote hand washing and reduce the spread of healthcare associated infections as part of a national campaign The Max Guide to Hand Hygiene developed in partnership with the NHS.
Albany Max is now ‘on the road’ in his brand new Healthy Hands van, taking the Albany Max road show to schools across the UK, delivering fun and engaging hand hygiene education.
